Dirty Beaches was the project of Alex Zhang Hungtai, a Taiwanese-born, Montreal-based musician. Starting with the lo-fi rock'n'roll crooning of 'Badlands' (2011), he moved toward instrumental drift, saxophone and noise on later records for Zoo Music and Suicide Squeeze, before retiring the name in 2014 and continuing under his own.
Recorded around Primavera Sound 2012, this short film follows the festival between Barcelona and Porto. Lower Dens, Dirty Beaches, Veronica Falls, Thee Oh Sees, and other artists reflect on touring, performance, and the experience of the event.
Recorded at Milhões de Festa in Barcelos in July 2011, this festival film brings together Foot Village, Dirty Beaches, Liars, Vivian Girls, Shit and Shine, Electrelane, and other artists from the programme.
